To help residents of economically disadvantaged communities usher in a new era of self-sufficiency by creating opportunities that develop their innate abilities and skills to overcome cultural, educational, financial and social barriers.


What are the benefits of working with COV?

What are the requirements for volunteers?

Volunteers must

.  Be 18 years of age or older
.  Possess a high school diploma
.  Complete the COV Volunteer Application
.  Conduct an interview with the Program Director
.  Attend an orientation session
.  Pass a background check


Girl’s Mentoring Program

Girls are given the opportunity for one-on-one counseling, sharing and having their topics of interest discussed in an informal format. The girls are encouraged to ask questions and participate in the weekly activities. All information shared during this time is strictly confidential.
Program Schedule    : Twice a Week
Monday & Wednesday
3:00 – 5:00pm


Career Development

This program provides community residents with the opportunity to explore a variety of career choices. Residents are equipped with skills necessary to secure their choice of employment. The program equips residents with the skills that:

.  Help them to transition successfully to post secondary training or a job after high school. .  Help them achieve more by linking classroom study to future choices. .  Help adult members acquire new skills and move through career transitions.


Community Technology Center

COV has partnered with Hamilton Park under Chicago Park District to start a community technology Center. The center provides the following services:

.  Equip residents with the latest tools and software to make our community members proficient technology users
.  Gain basic computer skills, make digital movies, music and photography, and learn graphic design and web development
.  Equip community residents with the skill to refurbish computers in order to give back to those in their community who are less fortunate in purchase a computer
.  Provide free Internet access to community residents for school, homework, research, etc.
